Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-05-15

This Privacy Policy explains what information Tutorial AI collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to keep this short and plain-English. If anything is unclear, email us at support@tutorial.app.

Summary (TL;DR)

  • We collect what we need to run the app: your email, the links you submit, the lessons we generate for you, your study progress, and basic usage analytics.
  • We do not sell your data, run third-party advertising trackers, or collect your location.
  • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings inside the app, or by emailing support@tutorial.app.

1. Who We Are and How to Contact Us

Tutorial AI (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates the Tutorial AI mobile app and the https://ai.tutorial.app website. You can contact us at support@tutorial.app.

2. What We Collect

Account information

  • Your email address (used for magic-link sign-in and transactional email).
  • If you sign in with Google: your name and Google account identifier, as provided by Google’s OAuth flow.
  • Optional profile information you choose to add (such as a display name).

User content

  • The links and URLs you submit to generate lessons.
  • The generated lessons themselves (notes, key terms, flashcards, quiz questions).
  • Your progress through lessons, quiz scores, flashcard reviews, and any feedback (good/bad ratings, comments) you leave on lessons.

Device and usage information

  • Device type, operating system, and app version, used for compatibility and debugging.
  • Error and crash reports collected via Sentry to help us fix bugs.
  • Aggregated product analytics events inside the mobile app (for example, “lesson generated,” “quiz completed”) via PostHog, used to understand which features people use.

Subscription status

  • Your current tier (free or Pro) and subscription status, mirrored from Apple App Store / Google Play via RevenueCat.
  • We do not receive your payment card details. All payment information is handled by Apple or Google.

3. What We Don’t Collect

  • Your precise location.
  • Your contacts, photos (other than those you explicitly upload), or microphone audio.
  • Advertising identifiers.
  • We do not run third-party advertising or tracking pixels on this website.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
  • Generate lessons from the links and content you submit.
  • Enforce free and Pro usage limits and prevent abuse.
  • Send transactional emails such as magic-link sign-in codes.
  • Diagnose problems, fix bugs, and improve the app.
  • Improve prompt quality and Output using anonymized or aggregated data that does not identify you.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.

5. How AI Processing Works

When you submit a link or text, that content is sent to Google’s Gemini API to generate your lesson. Google processes the content under the terms of its paid API. Per those terms, content sent to the paid Gemini API is not used to train Google’s general AI models. For details, see Google’s Gemini API terms.

6. Cross-User Cache

To keep the Service affordable, public URLs (such as a publicly accessible YouTube video or article) may be generated once and the same lesson reused across users. This cache only applies to public URLs that anyone could fetch. Text you paste manually, lessons from private/signed URLs, and lessons from login-protected pages are never reused for another user.

7. Service Providers We Use

We share information with the following service providers strictly to operate the Service. Each is a data processor acting on our behalf under a contract that requires them to protect your information:

  • Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage for the app.
  • Google (Gemini API) — AI generation of lesson content.
  • Apple App Store, Google Play, and RevenueCat — handling and reconciling subscription purchases.
  • Sentry — error and crash reporting.
  • PostHog — product analytics inside the mobile app (not on this website).

8. Data Retention

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or accounting reasons.

9. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access and export the data we have about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, where applicable under law.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@tutorial.app. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on a request.

10. Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account inside the app. Confirming deletion will:

  • Remove your profile, lessons, progress, and feedback.
  • Cancel any active subscription at the end of the billing period (subscriptions are cancelled through Apple or Google).
  • Trigger deletion of associated data within 30 days.

Prefer email? Send a deletion request to support@tutorial.app from the email address on your account.

11. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, please email support@tutorial.app and we will delete it.

12. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All traffic to our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). User data is stored in Supabase with row-level security enabled — by default, every record is only accessible to the user it belongs to. AI provider keys and other secrets are stored server-side and are never embedded in the mobile app.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you in line with applicable law.

13. International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, you understand and agree that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries whose data-protection laws may differ from those of your country.

14. GDPR Rights (EU and UK Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the GDPR / UK GDPR including access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. The legal bases on which we process your data are:

  • Performance of a contract — to provide the Service you signed up for, including subscriptions.
  • Legitimate interest — to debug, improve the Service, and prevent abuse.
  • Consent — where required, for example for certain optional analytics features.
  • Legal obligation — for example, responding to lawful requests.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

15. CCPA Rights (California Users)

California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect about them, to request deletion, and to opt out of “sale” of personal information. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. To exercise your rights, email support@tutorial.app.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, give you notice in-app or by email before the change takes effect.
